#FLATOUT 4 SPLIT SCREEN OFFLINE#
You can play with your friends offline in split screen mode, or you can compete against up to 8 others in online mode. While driving you can also enjoy the fun soundtracks that the game has to play in the background of your races. There are many circuits to choose from, with even more hover craft. This game boosts super speeds, where you have to keep your eyes on the road or you could lose the match in a split second. Dirt is for racing, tar is for getting there.Wipeout: Omega Collection coats $38.99 and is a game where you get to enjoy racing in futuristic hover craft. It's got a ton of race modes and the driving is solid, but it is not a sim by any stretch. This is one of the funnest games I have played for a long time. You visit the junk yard for cars to buy also. You drive around (like in NFSU2, but the entire town you drive in is smaller than even one of the parts of town in NFSU2) and find racers for challenges or race events. The single player mode is a little shallow, but not as shallow as pick-your-race-from-tree-and-upgrade-with-the-money-you-earn shallow. If you are still reading this dissertation, then you want the bad- the control scheme is screwy, but you can get used to it. Some of the differences are substantial, but within each race type (like demolition derby, chain race etc) there is only so much variation to be had, so some tracks look aline because the race type limits it. The tracks are varied between night and day and all have different shapes and whatnot. This is a pet peeve of mine in some games- often you are given a few cars and 1-2 tracks only, but not in TDEOD. You are given enough tracks and cars to begin with so that you can just pick up the game and race. There are several tracks unlocked to begin and many more to unlock as you go.

It's a fully arcade game, make no mistake! As you crash into stuff car parts fly off in all directions and leave detritis on the track. They handle OK, but float on the tracks a bit. The cars vary from the sub-compact Moth to the Schoolbus, Hearse and muscle cars. There are 4 classes of cars with about 5 different cars in each class, about 1/3 unlocked to begin (approx- I haven't done the math or counted these out). The cars look good until you crash them, then the crumpled cars look cheesy with a crumpled tinfoil appearance. The graphics are very good, with minimal jaggies and nice animated textures and dust effects that can obscure your vision at times (in this type of racing, this is a good thing).

I don't have a Dolby Digital system, but it's supported as well as 480p Hi-Def.

Engine sounds are good and the sound helps you ID cars coming up behind you. The sound is OK, though the rock n' roll soundtrack kind of sucks, but is typical of the TD series. I can see that the game will have a replayablilty value as a party game. Last night a friend and I were playing 2 player split screen and the multiple event types make it hard to put your controller down.

There are a lot and I have not yet played them all. TDEOD has chain racing, demoltion derby, regular pont-to-point racing, circuits, flip around races, CTF and others. From Demoliton Derby to Chain Racing this game has a lot of fun dirt track events. 2-4 player split screen demolition derbies & other Redneck Rodeo events is what FO should have had and TDEOD does have! There have got to be a dozen race modes with this game and it is fun.
